30-10-18 Winter League Round 6

With Schools being on half term holiday there were several visiting drivers this week.
Qualifying

Chelle Snowden was the top qualifier in the GT12 Class, League leader Karl Norris was in second place both drivers being two laps up on the third and fourth place drivers Bob Harley and Guy Rogers.
In the LMP class Louis Parker had a great drive in round three to take pole position in the final a lap ahead of Ashley King and James Hart.

Finals
The GT12 C Final turned out to be a good one for “Team Walker” with James winning and Jack taking second place. Martyn Hartshorne racing after a couple of weeks break was third and F3 League leader Freddie Parker fourth.

Visitor Bailey Rice-Draycott won the B Final, Kayleigh Knight was a close second and fast improving Benn Norris took third place. Better watch out Kay – Benn had a quicker best lap time than you for the second week running!

In the A Final Karl Norris made a great start from second place on the grid to go ahead of Chelle Snowden on the first lap and went on to win the race three seconds ahead of Chelle. Bob Harley recovered from a poor start to take third place with Justin Heath fourth.

The LMP final was run at a very fast pace and developed into a race for the win between Louis Parker, Ashley King and James Hart. A super race to watch with Louis and James going wheel to wheel for lap after lap and James being first across the finishing line to win. Ashley took third place just a few seconds adrift and Fred Hatfield was fourth.
A great race to conclude the evening.

23-10-18 Winter League Round 5

After the three rounds of qualifying Ashley King was quickest in the GT12 class with 37 laps followed by Karl Norris, Chelle Snowden and Leigh Dibble all on 36.
In F2 Justin Heath was the best, closely followed by Guy Rogers both drivers with 34 laps followed by Bob Harris on 32.
Only two drivers racing in F3 this week, Paul Carter and Freddie Parker finishing in that order.
Likewise in the club Mardave class Nathan Marshall took pole position in the final ahead of Roy Matthews.

Finals
In the combined Mardave/GT12 D Final Matthew Tansley was the winner with Paul Carter taking second place, Nathan Marshall third and Roy Matthews fourth.

In the GT12 C Final Bob Harris took and early lead starting on pole position on the grid, Mike Simpson then moved up into the front until the last minute when Bob re-took the lead and went on to win the race. Behind these two Chris Metcalfe and Kayleigh Knight were fighting it out for third and fourth places, it was very close but Chris was first to the finish. Well done also to Benn Norris who put in some quicker laps than both Chris and Kayleigh!

The GT12 B Final was next and proved to be an exciting race with Bob Harley leading the cars away at the start from pole. Justin Heath set the quickest lap time early on in the race just 6/100th second faster than Bob and with Darren Ford and Guy Rogers also going well it was a great race to watch. In the end a super consistent drive from Darren won him the race, Bob finished second and Justin third all on the same lap.

Could the last race of the evening the GT12 A Final match the excitement of the previous one, the answer was yes! Ashley King being the winner and lapping all the other drivers apart from Steve Donald who finished in second place with Chelle Snowden taking third spot and league leader Karl Norris fourth all these three finishing on the same lap.

Four more rounds yet to go in the league, Karl Norris still leads F1 by a big margin but Chelle Snowden reduced his lead by a point this week.
A change of leader in F2 with Guy Rogers now top just a single point ahead of Mike Simpson, Bob Harris in third place also closing the gap by a point to second place.
Freddie Parker still leads F3.
In the Mardave class Roy Matthews had his lead cut by a point by Nathan Marshall who, having raced in only two rounds still could achieve a maximum points score in the league.
Remember it is the best six from a possible nine results that count.
