Richard Parker is fastest qualifier in the Mardave class but Lee Bishop wins the final once again
Jenson Butlin takes the lead in Division 2
Daniel Williams storms to victory in the GT12 class
Four qualifying rounds and an eight minute final on a smaller 4 carpet wide track this week for a change meant some very short laptimes and a driving error resulting in a lot of ground being lost.
Mardave Class
Richard Parker returning after a two week break set the pace right from the first race and was fastest qualifier, Mike Simpson was second after a good run in the fourth qualifying round, pushing Lee Bishop down into third place. Jenson Butlin was in top form being the fastest driver in division 2.
The final developed into a close race between Richard and Lee with Mike dropping back through the field having used a part discharged battery! Lee was the winner with Richard second, both drivers on 49 laps. Another fine drive from Jenson Butlin saw him finish third and displacing Joshua Galbraith at the head of division 2.
GT12 Class
Some very competitive racing with the first three drivers in qualifying all achieving 39 laps. Daniel Williams in his new car was really flying and took pole position for the final, Dave Tomlinson was second just three seconds back and Darren Ford third third by a similar margin. The fastest lap time of 7.15 seconds was set by Louis Parker who was fourth on 38 laps.
This set the scene for a great final and we were not to be disappointed! The evening belonged to Daniel who lapped everyone else in the race at least twice to score 53 laps, Louis was second, Dave third and Darren fourth all with 51 laps.
Dave Tomlinson now leads the league, Darren Ford is in second position and Bob Harley drops down to third place. Five more rounds left so it promises to be a very close thing – can Daniel catch the leaders?
