Standard track layout No 2 this week produced some quick laps and exciting racing.
Qualifying
Alan Forster was the top qualifier in the Club Mardave class with 30 laps, Nathan Marshall was second on 29 with Roy Matthews and Alex Forster a further two laps down.
Karl Norris took pole in the GT12 A Final with 42 laps followed by Darren Ford 41, Chelle Snowden and Jordan Leavis both on 40 and Justin Heath with 39 laps completing the A Final line up.
The start order for the B Final was Bob Harley on pole, Guy Rogers, Kayleigh Knight, Mike Simpson and David Statham.
Daniel Beattie was pole position driver for the C Final, Courtney Orme was car 2, Martyn Hartshorne car 3, James Krych car 4 and Freddie Parker car 5.
In the LMP class there was the usual rivalry between Steve Donald and Ashley King with all four drivers setting very quick laps. Ashley won the first two rounds of qualifying and a retirement in round three by Steve confirmed that he had once again been “Eclipsed” by Ashley. Good driving from everyone, the line up for the final being Ashley, Steve, Richard Norris and Fred Hatfield.
Finals
In the Mardave Final Alan Forster was the winner, narrowly beating Nathan Marshall. All drivers finished in the grid order with Roy Matthews third and Alex Forster fourth.
Daniel Beattie got the better of Courtney Orme to win the GT12 C Final with the remaining three drivers battling it out for the other places. At the finish the order was Martyn Hartshorne third, James Krych fourth and Freddie Parker fifth.
Bob Harley won the B final with Guy Rogers despite setting the fastest lap finishing in second place. Behind these two drivers Kayleigh Knight and Mike Simpson were having a close fought battle and it was Kay who took third place, Mike fourth and David Statham fifth.
The GT12 A final was the best race of the evening with four of the five drivers finishing on the same lap just a few seconds apart. Karl Norris was the winner, a super drive from Darren Ford earned him second place with Jordan Leavis in top form finishing third and also setting equal fastest lap with Karl. Chelle Snowden was just over a further second down in fourth place and Justin Heath was fifth.
Last to race were the LMP drivers where Ashley King was the winner, also improving on his fastest lap in qualifying by 6/100th second. Richard Norris also had a good race to finish in second place two laps ahead of third place driver Fred Hatfield with Steve Donald unfortunately not being able to start the race.
There is now only a single round of the 2018 superleague remaining which is planned for Tuesday 11th December.
Five out of a possible six round scores to count.
